Proust blog post

Marcel Prousts’ “The Cookie” describes the internal inquisition eating a Madeleine cookie imposes upon a man. He is overtaken by the “new sensation having had on me the effect which love has of filling me with a precious essence” and it thus leads him to question the origin of it. (Proust) He begins to realize that the taste of the food was diminishing, “it is time to stop; the potion is losing it magic”. (Proust) After this, he begins to discuss the reasons why he was feeling such strong emotions about this tea. He realizes his emotions towards this tea was because of an interaction he had with his aunt as a child.
I found Prousts’ writing to be interesting, I enjoyed how in depth he was when describing his emotions in relation to the tea. However, I found his digression to leave the point of the text somewhat confusing. I appreciated his writing style, he is able to elaborate so deeply on a topic as trivial as a cookie but it confused the text slightly. He was able to create a relatable piece by describing the phenomenon of how nothing ever tastes as good as the first bite of it.

  1. I would push you to integrate your quotations more fully. Explicate the quotes and provide some analysis or insight (or further explain why you chose these specific quotations).

Also consider, per your second paragraph, what the main focus of the excerpt is. Perhaps the main topic is not in fact the cookie, but the process of remembering/reminiscing. If this were the case, then the digressions would make a lot of sense.

(Also, the correct grammar would be Proust's, not Prousts', as the author's name is Marcel Proust.)

However, overall, solid job for a blog post entry. I would just push you to do some more critical thinking about the excerpt! What do you mean by "interesting" or "confused," for example?
